Safety & privacy

Built on trust. Clear by design.

EverAndNear is a companion, not a surveillance tool. We hold ourselves to a simple standard: if we wouldn't be comfortable explaining it plainly to a family, we don't do it.

Account ownership and consent

Family and facility own configuration

Seniors never manage settings, create accounts, or configure the companion. All setup is performed by family members or facility staff, with explicit consent at every step.

Clear account ownership

Senior profiles are owned by family accounts (for home users) or facility accounts (for care environments). There is no anonymous or unaccountable access.

Consent-oriented setup

Account creation requires the responsible party — family or facility — to confirm their relationship to the senior and agree to EverAndNear's terms of use.

What the senior experiences

Seniors experience only conversation

The senior's interface is entirely conversational. They never see settings, admin controls, or data panels. Their experience is designed to feel natural and familiar.

The companion is not presented as a real person

EverAndNear's companion is warm and consistent, but we do not falsely present it as a real human. It is a caring presence — clearly a product of Equinox Care.

Data storage and handling

What is stored

Conversation context is stored to enable continuity — so the companion remembers what matters from session to session. Senior profile information, family context, and reminder settings are stored as configured by the account holder.

What is not stored

Raw transcripts are not permanently retained. We do not build behavioral profiles for advertising or analytics purposes. Conversation content is not sold or shared with third parties.

Privacy-first data handling

We do not sell data. We do not use senior conversations for model training without explicit written permission from the account holder. Your family's moments and stories belong to your family.

What is shared — and what is not

Family receives structured updates

Families receive summaries, story clips, and notable moments as configured. These are curated — not raw transcripts or surveillance logs.

Facility receives operational view

Facility staff see a lightweight operational summary: engagement status, family connection status, and follow-up suggestions. They do not receive full conversation content.

Nothing is shared outside your circle

Data is never shared with advertisers, data brokers, or unaffiliated third parties. The only people who see your loved one's information are the people you authorize.

Emergency and escalation boundaries

EverAndNear is not an emergency service

EverAndNear is a companion product. It does not provide emergency response, clinical care, or medical judgment. Families and facilities must maintain their own emergency contact protocols.

Escalation and caregiver contact

If a conversation includes language that suggests distress or urgent need, EverAndNear will note this for the family or facility account — but it does not contact emergency services directly. Caregivers are responsible for acting on flagged information.

Accessibility and dignity

Accessibility-first design

The senior experience is designed for accessibility — clear contrast, slow-paced interaction, and no time-pressured responses. We design for older adults as capable, deserving users.

Dignity principles

We do not patronize. We do not infantilize. We do not gamify the experience or use manipulative engagement mechanics. EverAndNear is designed to support dignity and autonomy.
